Your Day Just Got Shorter Thanks To The Earthquake In Chile
If you thought you did not have enough time during the day before, well, you have less now. The earthquake in Chile this last week changed the physics of the world.
News sources report from scientists ( hopefully more reliable than the IPCC ) that days are shortened by 1.26 microseconds. Not only that, the axis of the earth was changed by eight centimeters. So, your compass is bit skewed also.
If you remember your physics classes, changes in rotating bodies affect its rotation. The huge 8.8 earthquake in Chile has affected our rotating Earth in just such a way, making it turn a bit faster. Make sure you get enough sleep tonight.
