Times Square Bomb Suspect Appears in Court

Times Square bomb suspect Faisal Shahzad made his first appearance in Manhattan court. Magistrate judge told him that he had the right to remain silent. Faisal cooperated after the arrest and he admitted driving the SUV which had bomb into Times Square Area. Even after his cooperation he was brought to the court for hearing.

The hearing was only for 10 minutes, Faisal was wearing a grey sweat suit with long hairs. He was treated like any other prisoner. He was not wearing any uniform and as soon as the hearing ended, he was handcuffed. When he walked out of the court he did not look at anyone. Magistrate read the rights for him and he also included the right to remain silent. He also said, anything he might say could be used against him.

According to the sources, since arrest Faisal has cooperated and he has also provided useful information which helped in further investigation. Shahzad was charged for using destructive device, and this crime is punishable by 30 years of prison. With all these charges against him, he was also detained without any bail.
