Philippine election 2010: Joseph Estrada waits for official results

The candidate and former Philippine President Joseph Estrada, second place in the presidential election on Monday, said that he won’t recognize the victory of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III until the official results.
“My silence about the recent presidential elections should not be misinterpreted as a recognition of the victory of the candidate who leads the results,” said Estrada in a statement released by the digital edition of the newspaper “The Philippine Star.”
“I want to assure people that although I have no intention of protesting, I’m not going to recognize” Aquino’s victory until is not officially proclaimed by the country’s Congress, said Estrada.
According to the latest data from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the 78.55 percent of the vote, Aquino leads the elections with 40.2 percent, followed by Estrada, with 25.5 percent of the vote.
The Commission has decided stop the spread partial results, but the unofficial results of the Parish Pastoral Council for a Responsible Voting are giving an advantage over Aquino Estrada in nearly five million votes, according to “The Philippine Star.” His victory has already been recognized by other candidates, including Manuel Villar, Richard Gordon, Eddie Villanueva and John Carlos de los Reyes.

We have seen the trend of Philippines election day. Most people are just stupid, receiving money from politician. My sister and i was approached by a zone leader. We were given a yellow sample ballot with 2 200-peso bills & a hundred. Noynoy was d president. It was even rumored (i hope it’s not true) that one of the uncles of noy2x called a governor and said that if Noynoy will not win in his province, he will not buy his casava prosuction.. See that people?
Estrada is a freaking idiot. He is old. Can no longer talk straight. Obviously his mind is going too. What’s really freaky is how on earth this so many people voted for him. He is actually on 2nd place beating the more qualified candidates, the likes of Teodoro, Villar, Gordon, etc.
Hello people, if you want our country to move ahead and be progressive we should put our brains in the right place. Don’t vote for someone just because he is a movie star and famous and maybe buying your votes. C’mon people, c’mon. We will be destitute forever if we don’t change. We have to change. We have to change.
Stop, stop, stop. So much people try finding dirt on Noynoy and they just end up with stupid rumors. Besides, unless there’s some new person who just really wants to change our government, then we’re all screwed. We look for people who have politicians as relatives to become politicians… and that’s not going to work.
When Cory was President, she was probably the most honest President the Philippines ever had. However, her relatives in the Aquino and Cojuangco clans & their respective cronies were there for the taking. They even ask for advanced bribes from business people especially foreign investors. I hope that as President, Noynoy can handle such elder uncles & aunts who would continue the corruption trend in our country. His mother was not able to and the country elected him because we really need to change our image as one of the most corrupt countries in Asia. More power to Noynoy & the Filipinos.
@emma: i’m going to have to agree with lea s. hello, all the marcos’ are in power.
@joe: yeah. why did people even vote for erap? wait. why is he even running, dude! we freakin’ kicked him out of our country and he’s here thinking he could “lead” us. DUUUUUDE! =))
Will somebody tell Erap that his vote is way less than Noynoy’s or give him the “<" sign if he knows what to do with it. What a character, that looted money must have been really huge to convince millions of people to vote him. Please stop his none sense!
First, the Filipinos will be thankful mainly because Erap OR Villar will not become the next (same as incumbent) president. Still, Filipinos are not learning, still millions voted for ERAP – what a shame pinoys you are dumb, I would rather have de los Reyes or Villanueva as president rather than the earlier mentioned two a**holes. People can now go to sleep knowing that the next leader is not corrupt, I believe he will stay clean otherwise his parents will get up from their graves to haunt him
. People will now lift the new leader to GOD for wisdom. And the losers/trapos once and for all to support the new govt- maawa naman kayo sa bayang Pilipinas. I want to see Phil set a population policy like what China “1 child policy”. Forget about the catholic priest because they don’t care for the poor because most of them are living in luxury anyway. The new prseident shoud be tough enough putting pinoy std of living up rather than listen to the priests.
