“Heroes” and “FlashForward” Cancelled
The television networks NBC and ABC announced today the cancellation of two of its big bets, the series “Heroes” and “FlashForward” due to a loss of interest among American viewers, reported media.
Both series generated much excitement when they appeared on the grid, getting good ratings and critical support, but the internal changes in production and scripts ended their solvency.
“Heroes” debuted in 2006 and became a hit for NBC both in the U.S. and internationally, to the point of becoming successful compared to “Lost” (ABC).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network had planned to end the series with its fourth season and close the frame with a final chapter of several hours, but because of the high costs and poor ratings, the chain opted to save that last delivery and lower the curtain on “Heroes.”
Less travel had “FlashForward,” a series that premiered in 2009 with the aspiration to be the heir to “Lost” on ABC, which has finally decided to delete it from the ABC program after one season, according to a publication in Variety.
ABC, however, did give the nod to the production of new episodes of the remake of “V“, which is currently finalizing the issuance of its first season in the U.S.

Its just the same when Hurt Locker win over Transformers or when Twilight movies has so much success with their shity plot/story. Critics just don’t know shit anymore, and nobody should listen to them anymore.IMO I. Suggest not to support any other TV show unless they’ll give us an apoligy for what they’ve done to us, all 2 to 3 millions of veiwers…
Flash Forward was the one show I could watch without seeing T&A all over my screen! I don’t watch lawyer shows,cop shows, or medical drama’s, heroes or singing and dancing crap so…it looks like this is for the best.. NO TV for me! Woohoo! Joni welcomes football season. At least that box sitting there won’t go to waste.
I don’t understand why all the good shows get cancelled. They don’t get the ratings thet want because they interrupt the season for dumb shows. Been doin that since the writer strike. You can’t just interrupt midway through the season (Dec–March) then expect your same viewers to still be waiting around for the show to come back on. That’s just common sense. Viewers have to find other shows to watch while you broadcast some ridiculous mini-series. STOP INTERRUPTING THE SEASON
Great just surfing the web only to find out another one of my favorite tv series has been canceled. If it wasnt working the first series why do another one? This is Crap tv at its best.
I am furious about this, I followed Flash Forward as I thought it had a very well written plot and theme. I cannot believe they let shows like Lost run forever with no rhyme or reason and you have something like FF that gets cancelled. V looks so rediculous I won’t bother to watch. I am a pretty avid Fringe viewer and must admit FF took over my Fringe desires. Fringe is the only show I am following now and with my luck it’s next on the chopping block. I am cancelling cable, I refuse to give in to the network funding if they keep cancelling shows I like. EF them. Morons.
Just got kicked in the balls to find out that FF is not coming back. What a wonderfully written and acted show. Major Tv companies have gone stupid. Big mistake. So sad to know this after watching the whole first series from download. CBS, ABC you suck

Come ON! NOT again! I don’t even feel like getting hooked up on abc’s shows anymore you never know if they are going to last! Flash forward was the best!! You marketing people don’t have any idea how analyze ratings! Come up with more accurate methodologies!
This is why networks struggle, inconsistency…..They come up with GREAT shows and then cancel them. Viewers never know if their favorite show will ever appear again. When are networks going to STOP LISTENING TO THE CRITICS?!?!?! Heck, these are the same people who gave “Blindside” a thumbs down, and look where that film ended up. I feel the same as Violeta, why even bother watching networks like ABC & NBC if they can’t think for themselves or if they put BOZO in charge of programing. Flashforward and HEROS were engaging, interesting and entertaining. So these shows were dropped and reality JUNK FOOD shows like Wife Swap or Wipe Out survive. It is all too apparent that BOZO in programing doesn’t know anything. Some one needs to cancel him. I am going to miss Flash Forward and HEROS, they were both awesome and I looked forward to them being back on,….I will look more to PBS for consistent broadcasting, ABC and NBC,….YOU’RE FIRED !!!!

From now on, anything which comes out of the ABC stable may as well be cancelled as soon as the ink on the contract is dry,… I won’t be watching.
I’m totally hacked off spending MY time engaging with a perfectly watchable Science Fiction based drama, then some f*ck*ng bean counter decides to close it down before the end of the story,… Too many times guys !

Fringe and FlashForward was the only series I liked at all! V, Heroes and all this police/hospital crap series just suck.
HBO did the same with Carnivale, and I will never understand

i cant believe that ff was cancelled. i so agree with the other posts about the poor quality of television programs on the main networks. i am so tired of seeing those tiresome “reality” (?inexpensive)shows and cop shows, full of violence against women, thrive! its no wonder alternative channels are so popular.

I haven’t had cable TV sense we moved. Sense the season finale for both ff and heroes. Was waiting for them to start before I hooked my tv up. Guese that’s not happening. I’m going net flix. The only other reason to have tv was news. I got that on my phone…. Lame decision. I can’t believe it. Been waiting all summer for nothing. At least end ff. Geesh.
Are you kidding? We just were looking for the season premieres of Flash Forward and Heroes only to find out they have been cancelled! ABC you stink big time! Clever writing, well acted and story lines that don’t easily wrap up in one week episodes. Yeah, why not cancel it? I’m sure there is a city that has some real housewives/losers/extreme makeovers that have not been tapped yet.
I’m tired of this crap! ABC puts out a series that requires its audience to actually think but they’d rather just put up some brand dead show with women in bikinis or the Bachelor where older people with relationship issues try to find “true love.” This was a great show that kept you interested. Way to make the final episode as good as it was and then leave all its fans with a bad taste in their mouths!
Does anyone remeber Invasion? I am so tired of getting hooked on these shows just to have them canceled. So They can air some idiotic “unreality” shows. Its bad to say but I
would rather spend time on the internet or Discovery channel then watch network TV.
I know what the heck – I loved Flash Foward
Another reason not to waste time on network TV. Having a terrible schedule to try and watch a series but when one as good as Flash Forward comes along and I revamp MY schedule to catch all the episodes possible, just to have it pulled out from under me.
Some series end when they should (Battlestar Gallactica) making them a great memory. Then there are ones like Heroes and FF where the crescendo builds to a point of making you anxious for more and then POW!!! right in the kisser.
WHY do you exec’s keep shooting yourselves in the foot by cancelling quality programming for “professional wrestling style rigged” so called reality shows that have no parallel to reality, or another hospital, cop, or lawyer series that is nothing but a rehash of all the others since the ’70′s.
It’s back to the Science Channel, History Channel, and Discovery Channel for me, where quality still survives.
Ok. I dislike ABC. They get you hooked on shows. Show you the next thing to happen. Then Cancel that show! FLASH FORWARD is awesome. They need to bring it back and cancel V. V= sucks. It was on before and didn’t do any good. Bring Back Flash Forward!
I’m from Montreal in Canada but I mostly watch US tv. I really don’t understand why FF is being cancelled. It was great, was intelligent, had a great bunch of actors, the theme was brilliant, it was very well done, it had all the necessary ingredients for a blockbuster.
Why cancel it? Most of my friends and relatives were glued to their TV when it was on.
Please explain this decision….I really don’t understand.
Son of a blip! I was looking forward to the season premiere. And YES I remember Invasion and Will Traveler! All good shows cancelled for naught! UGH UGH UGH!!! And now we got dumb crap like dating in the dark reality mess.
i love flash forward. i even bought the dvd and got my son and sister hooked so they would know whats going on in the fall. very disappointed. i agree with Elisha, take off v that show is so dumb. i watch it for awhile. i tried to like it but after wasting my time for about 4 weeks i quit watching
I loved flash forward – I always worked Thursday nights when it was on, but you bet your butt that I DVR’d it and still have the entire series on DVR and watch it when there is nothing on (quite frequently) I was so pissed to find that Flash Forward was cancelled… What is the problem? I mean even after interrupting the season for the Olympics, there were still TONS of viewers, maybe not enough to suffice the critics/network, but what do you expect?
I am hoping that another network like SyFy picks up Flash Forward or ABC comes to their senses and re signs it.. As for V, V= Very Stupid, its a remake of something, from what I remember, wasn’t that great..
You cannot put a good show on Thursday – Sunday nights. It won’t work. You cannot beat NBC on Thursday, no one watches on Friday & Saturday & Sundays are dominated by FOX/NFL & HBO. Put your dumb ass Cop/Hospital/Lawer/Reality shows on Friday and Saturday and see what happens. Either A – They fail and we can finally get rid of them. Or B – they do great and you make tons more money to go along with a strong Mon – Wed lineup. But what do I know…
Bring back FF and put it on Tuesday night and it will instantly have increased ratings.
You can keep Heroes in the garbage right next to whoever approved those story lines and scripts post season 2.
V isn’t as bad as people are saying, but maybe I just like stairing at the hot V daughter?

You have to be kidding me!!! FlashForward was AWESOME. Fox did the same stupid thing with Sarah Conner Chronicles. Have a GREAT show with a GREAT season finale and then we wait anxiously to see what happens next only to be left hanging. That’s just rotten!!!! Where’s MARK??? Now we will never know. How is Lost or V really better than FlashForward? Seriously?!?!
I can’t beleive it. After dedicating one’s time to follow a show, watching all the god episodes of Flash Forward they decide to cancel it with out closing the trama. We should sue these stations for making us waste our time. The FCC should make it compulsory for stations to give an ending to the trama if they wish to cancel the show.
I cannot believe that I will never know what happens on Flash Forward. We LOVED this show and are so disappointed that it has been cancelled! Big mistake ABC, Flash Forward was so much better than Lost or “V” .
I’m glad flash forward got canceled. It was predictable and didn’t go anywhere. 20 some episodes of them piddling around. Why were they ‘ investigating ‘ anyway? What a waste of air time.
I hope you higher ups are reading these posts. WE are the people that watch the shows and should be the ones that dictate what stays on the air and what doesn’t. Flash Forward was a great show with great acting. It kept me on the edge of my seat with EVERY episode! What a shame…
You all have to understand, the networks have to cater to audiences that don’t think. This isn’t a surprise to me at all. Just business as usual. ABC and the other networks suck…Until people stop watching all of the other cop, lawyer and doctor shows we’ll never have good tv again…pretty sad.
The knuckleheads that cancelled Flash Forward I hope are happy now! That was a great show. You ever think that perhaps some of us 40 something or older folk will not pay to watch TV and that is where you come up with not enough interest at? I prefer to watch something via internet now. Free TV is the way to go now that people want to try and get rich from entertainment that was once free originally. The show had its last episode where you could have another season. I vote they bring it back and have even more seasons! It sure beat some of these other dorky shows I know exist.
This really sucks. Next time that I’m statrting to get interested on a show I will make sure that does not carrie the ABC seal. Flash Forward was a well done show. It seems that there is no room for shows that will make you question issues like these. There is no other logical reason for this cancelation. ABC did a big mistake with this cancelation. With hope, they may bring it back.

I am going to do my best never to watch abc again. The same thing happened with Invasion where I spend a whole season on a cliffhanger series and then they just up and cancel the show. At least end the show instead of just leaving everything hanging. I hope there are good enough shows on the other networks so I never have to watch abc again.
Guess I had my own flash forward. I actually saw this coming. Whenever a good show comes along, it will eventually get the axe before seasons/series end. I could name many, and funny now that I think about it, a great percentage has been ABC. Way to go, keep that name up there. Anyways, I did see this show having a possible shelf life that mirrored Prison Break, and you have to agree, but it at least had potential to run its course. I watched the original V, it was great, this one is not. Revamped with todays technology….YAY…so what, where is the story. Watched 2 episodes, never to return. Hot or not, the agent and the daughter both cant keep me glued to an hour of crap. So now I have definately learned, whenever ABC says they have a new show coming out, that night will instantly become a Blockbuster night. Bugger off you “non-self thinking bunch of network nitwits.” Good night, and good luck.
So disappointing to think that such an engaging, interesting, well written show like FlashForward has been canceled. read the previous comments and i agree, the network is clueless.
I am truly disappointed. FF was intriguing, made me think, and I was not bombarded with T&A at every turn. Maybe the networks should figure out that the over 30 crowd is the one with the money to spend on their sponsors not the 16-25 that they always target for. I hate “reality” TV. Your IQ can only lose so many points before the reality shows start looking good. Maybe that is the plan.
I hate that they canceled Flash Forward, I was really getting in to it. It was a different show, and we are tired of lawyer , hospitals and cops shows. Maybe they should have run the show in a later time before canceled it.

Complaining about that a commercial program like FF was canceled is just asinine.
This forum should perhaps discuss WHY the masses of the great unwashed was initially fascinated by the premise of the show only to rapidly lose interests in the show a few months later.
Let’s forget about the plot of the novelette upon which the show was based for a moment.
Flash Forward was simply a bad idea from the start–as far as commercial, episodic television is concerned.
Any moron looking at the show could see and hear that the writers, producers, and directors certainly didn’t believe the viewers could engage the deeper philosophic issues that arose from the plot. Most of the really intriguing plot points were simply abandoned.
Most viewers simply grew impatient waiting for the logical reason why the “collective unconsciousness event happened”.
Why they would cancel FlashForward is beyond any sense of rationality. Its decisions like this that cause a downfall in the intelligence of the American public. Cancel the reality shows you morons and bring back shows like FF that are actually mentally engaging and stimulating.
Oh dear , another worng move by the Tv channels , firstly being in the uk we get everything after USA , which is no real big issue as we get them which is important . secondly , every one i seem to know have been watching following FF , Fringe , Heroes, V , were/ are good intertainment. we have been anxiously been waiting for them to resume ! why not make shorter series that do not run into lack of funds and loss of interest over extended period of time between shows etc. shorter complete stories from start to finish . now i guess we’ll never find out what ever happens at the end of FF , of all the other cool shows. the USA entertainment industry who do they listen to ? who feeds their heads with information that such and such show has lots of viewer and that one fewer or now has loss of interest, how do they measure this?
I turely hope all of the above come back or continue ! i started watching another show blood and stone spartans, now thats being canceled or delayed ! instead of continueing with the story they show script writers are considering writing a new stary before spartans what the £*&!? is going on ? make programe stick to it until the end ! easy !
I’m very disapointed that my show was cancaled. Just when u find something that u like they always want to take it off the air just when u are getting into it.
Low ratings were caused by Winter Games which put on a hiatus the whole show. If it weren’t for this, the show would have probably been continued. ABC’s should have taken this into consideration when they had decided to cancel it and give the show a second chance in a normal year (not interrupted by other events).
A Brit here, FlashForward was brilliant. Agent Benford was awesome.

FlashForward was the one TV show that me and my Dad shared. Every Thursday night, no matter how busy we were, we would take that one hour to sit down together and watch the show. Thanks, ABC, for taking away the one time per week I knew I would get to spend time with just my Dad.
Does anyone remember the movie “Running Man” with “the Governator” in the title role & Richard Dawson as the game show host from Hell?? The movie was ahead of its time as it shows what the networks consider “compelling entertainment” i.e. mindless reality shows with people making fools of themselves or whining about this, that & the next thing only the movie went off the deep end. Unfortunately, it appaers that’s where we’re headed. The networks need to stop “dumbing down” televison and keep quality, thought provoking programs like FF on air. I agree with other posts that TV has become such a wasteland. I find myself watching reruns of classics because I don’t want to waste my time on anything new because it probably won’t be there long. Stop listening to the critics and start listening to the entire tv viewing public before axing a show!!

At least have the dignity to end it with a feature length episode to tie up the knots , jesus , TV excecs are just clueless .
