“Heroes” and “FlashForward” Cancelled
The television networks NBC and ABC announced today the cancellation of two of its big bets, the series “Heroes” and “FlashForward” due to a loss of interest among American viewers, reported media.
Both series generated much excitement when they appeared on the grid, getting good ratings and critical support, but the internal changes in production and scripts ended their solvency.
“Heroes” debuted in 2006 and became a hit for NBC both in the U.S. and internationally, to the point of becoming successful compared to “Lost” (ABC).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network had planned to end the series with its fourth season and close the frame with a final chapter of several hours, but because of the high costs and poor ratings, the chain opted to save that last delivery and lower the curtain on “Heroes.”
Less travel had “FlashForward,” a series that premiered in 2009 with the aspiration to be the heir to “Lost” on ABC, which has finally decided to delete it from the ABC program after one season, according to a publication in Variety.
ABC, however, did give the nod to the production of new episodes of the remake of “V“, which is currently finalizing the issuance of its first season in the U.S.

It’s probably time to mention that maybe, just maybe, the average American is not that smart. A show like Flash Forward is intelligent and thought-provoking. It requires you to actually use your brain. Most people like mind-numbing reality shows or these silly hyper-sexed comedies that cater to the carnal. It would help if some execs had just a little more courage. What’s next? Another show that they will cancel again in a year. And so it continues…
Good for you m heise. Sometimes (most times) its good to watch something other than reality shows they seem to have taken over the world.
such sad news… Lost was a lost cause while Heroes was getting nowhere…. but Flashforward? Bad decision.
Really sad news. I don’t enjoy watching the reality shows and if they cancel anymore of these quality shows I’ll just have to cancel cable!
I kind of see why they did this. A show, like a story needs something to lead up to. Lost has always done good with this, it created little pieces then put them together to lead up to something. Heroes lost it after season 1 because its lost it’s “thing” which was peter blowing up. Flash Forwards thing is kind of April 29th. What will season 2 be, a repeat of season 1. So I can kind of understand. It’s the same reason why movie sequels aren’t always that great. But i still enjoy the show.
What the hell are they saying? FlashForward is still one of the best shows at the moment. It really should continue.
FlashForward is one of the best shows of the season. Story is quite different from the other TV series. I think it deserves at least one more season.
Deserves another series? Why exactly? Titanic was a good film but the idea of a Titanic 2 is ridiculous! FlashForward has all been about leading up to this finale. We will have had 22 episodes telling the story. Think about it, that’s a 22-hour film to tell a story that, whilst fascinating, is hardly ripe for a retelling. Without coming up with something completely different it has no chance. They have been going on about the 2nd FF but did anyone really have the stomach for that?
If we are going to have something completely different as a storyline, might as well go for broke and go for a different series. Sorry America but you have been sending us a lot of dross for a long time. This is one of the few that has been really worth watching so ok, axe the show but employ the writers to come up with something new for you.
Maybe dwindling audiences is a sign of the times so we’ll have big stories made into one big series each and then move on to the next one. Fine by me to be honest.
I’m halfway across the world in India and I absolutely love FlashForward – it’s a truly unique show which completely engages the viewer. It is absolutely riveting story-telling.
I consider FlashForward to be one of the most remarkable pieces of television story-writing yet. My congratulations to the writers and the fine actors and actresses who did a completely perfect job.
I agree with Joe what would they do with season 2 but if u watch the finale it’s 5years later 2015 but I love that show don’t know what I would do without it and I’m 10 and in 4th grade!!!!!!!! But Flashforward is the BEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT CANCLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because I will cry and whine till it comes back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really bad move ABC. Me and all my friends watched Flashforward week after week. It’s the only serie I was following and you just cancelled it. I just watched the last episode of the season and I came to see when was the next season airing and I see this. Unbelievable!! I hope you will change your minds after reading all these critics. Until then I won’t watch another ABC show.
I agree with most of the people here. I’m sure there are many things that could be written about for at least another season. FF was really the only series I have ever watched, and I’m extremely disappointed in the people who can’t think of more things to write about. I loved FF, bring it back!
I loved flashfoward and the season ended not knowing if agent benford died. So if you were going to end the show at least have 1 followup episode explaining things!!!!

I agree with syd. It;s just a show, but it has to finish in a satisfactory way for the millions of people who watched it worldwide. Flash Forward should AT LEAST have a couple of episodes to allow the writers to wrap it up. It is INSULTING to the viewers internationally when a series ends so abruptly. NO RESPECT at all.
omg at least have one episode explaining everything! The finale of flashforward didnt feel like it ended properly and had me on the edge of my seat! i want to know what happens to agent benford! it’s just plain mean leaving it there! really disappointed about the news of it being cancelled. what a bad move. *shakes head*

Wow FF was really one of the best tv shows ever made, the concept is so intelligent and different. I’m really disappointed. And I disagree with the ones saying that another season would be just a repetition of the first one and that there’ nothing “new” the plot could lead up to. for me it’s quite obvious that the next seasons would be about the FBI team trying to find a way to stop the flashforwards.
There are so many things left unsolved, that’s just no way to end a tv series.

I cant believe this, most of my Favorite shows on TV r being scrapped. And yes I agree with M Heise and others, looks like all we r going to get on TV in the future is brain numbing nonsense. U couldn’t put it any better, M Heise. I guess thats why I loved Heroes, Lost, FlashForward, because they do make u think and keep u guessing!!! How boring its going to be with out them. This is the only series I have been following in the last 10 years. I probably won’t follow any in the next 10 – the idea of following a series and it being cancelled sucks. I’ll wait 4 or 5 seasons before watching anything to make sure it makes sense (that’s why I don’t watch lost) or isn’t cancelled. I’m in Portugal, and this is one of the most appreciated series on cable. ABC sucks. This is a bad decision and it destroys market – I’m not quitting ABC series, I’m quitting any series that isn’t in its final season.

I could not care less about “Lost or Heroes” as I have not watched them from the start but FF has kept me enthralled from minute 1.
Reality shows? All I can say is YAWN!!
It’s all about the benjamin baby. If the ratings for a show is poor, companies do not want to advertise during those shows, or they will demand to pay much less for their ads, which leaves ABC with less money. I’m guessing ABC was also funding a big part of the budget for Flashforward. There aren’t many TV networks who want a show with poor ratings and high production costs, regardless of if the CEO of ABC or whatever thinks Flashforward is the best show ever created.
I really enjoyed Heroes and Flash Forward. I can’t stand reality shows at all. I don’t watch any other series. The last one before these two was a series called The Pretender. Thought provoking as well as entertaining. Guess I have to wait another decade for something decent and worthwhile.
I just don’t understand why they have to cancel FF. Just because of the rating in the US? What about the rest of the world? I’m from Singapore and I LOVE FF. Reality shows? Cmon~ get a life.

GUTTED, GUTTED , GUTTED….how can we lose quality and be stuck with crap reality. bad bad decision as this show was GOOD (though i admit it was not humungously popular, i think it was because it required you to concentrate and not everyone can do that these days because all of the drival we have on tv such as crap reality.
I hace just returned from abroad and finally caught up with the last episode. Obviously it’s a cliffhanger so I came on here to see the date of series 2 to discover it’s cancelled. As a UK viewer, I’m glad that BBC and ITV stick by their shows for more than one series!!!
I cant believe Flashforward has been cancelled! i loved the first series, every episode left me wanting more! agree with some people that if its to cease production, a few epsiodes should be made to provide closure!
Flashforward was a good replacement for Lost. I was dissappointed with the Lost Finale, but the Flashforward Finale made up for it.
I hope the bad decision to cancel season 2 is reversed….

I watch flash forward on several diffrent channels because this is a show that I acctually can watch more than ones or twice because of the details and such. I used to love lost and flash forward was a great replace for that. I hope they decide to make a season 2 because soo many series with potential has stopped after 1 or 2 season just because they were not that popular at the time but became a hit just a short time later :/
My husband and I are devastated. We love FlashFoward, and while it plays too late for us here in Australia, we TIVO it religiously. Perhaps if it was called CSI-FlashForward or Law and Order- FlashForward it would have appealed to some of the brainless TV viewing public who also tune in regularly to have their IQ numbed by ‘The Bachelor’ or any other reality tv trash. Such a sad decision by the ABC. I know nought about American TV, but I certainly hope someone else will pick it up and produce it? Does that sort of thing happen? I hope so…
Save Flash Forward!!!!
Flash-forward is one of the most intelligent shows I have seen to date. I hope someone sees the potential in it and revives it. I wish I could.
I love intelligence whether in human, nature, technology, entertainment or whatever. It really helps my brain!!
Man this is ridiculous… what am I supposed to watch now? With Lost finished and Smallville finishing after this season, I’ve got no shows left!

Heroes definitely went off the boil after the first series. Characters disappeared in a way that was not explained, many were forced out of type to accommodate far-fetched plot twists (why didn’t they just use Claire’s blood to bring Nathan back, as she had done for her ‘Dad’ in previous series?) setting up season 4 for a fall given its preposterous premise.
Flashforward started strongly but quickly became predictable, with too many filler episodes distracting from what could have been a headlong rush (the blue hand anyone?). by the end the completely 2 dimensional characters couldn’t engage, or deliver a satisfying denouement. The networks were right to cancel both.
Here’s hoping they can come up with something better.
Flashforward I can see would have an end in the near future anyhow since it would just be a whole new story line but I’m more tired of the fact that they are starting them and stopping them with no conclusion. That’s my point. Neither are the show for everyone but a lot still loved them.
The deal is they need to stop counting on ratings by cable or tv even anymore as so many people are dvring or watching on hulu or buying the series afterwards to view interruption free. I personally don’t watch them at the times, I try because I know its good for the ratings system but I’m sure I am not the only fan that isn’t counted. The internet is the new way and I think the ratings need to be revamped to get a better count.

Can’t be serious: FF is an excellent show and deserves a second season or at least a robust conclusion. I really *HATE* those bullcrap managers in ABC, NBC and similar cancelling shows (Defying Gravity anyone?) after one season with the story far from being complete or revealed. This is not a serious attitude from video broadcasters and simply looks like a way to tell audience (that is: us) “we don’t care about you: you’re all just dumb pieces of sh…”.
We should create a facebook fanpage and have a million fans so we can get it back!!! im so depressed without this show :/ it’s true that nowadays people don’t appreciate good shows like this one, its all about stupid reality tv…
