A Dennis Gabor Biography, Discussing His Nobel Prize and Holography Invention
Today marks the 110th Birthday of inventor Dennis Gabor, and Google has honored his success with a change in their homepage logo.
What exactly did inventor Dennis Gabor do, and what were Dennis Gabor’s accomplishmenst? Many recognize him for his invention of holography and his 1971 Nobel Prize in physics.
A short Dennis Gabor biography, he was born in 1900 in Budapest. As a physicist, Dennis Gabor’s studies were triggered by his curiosity surrounding electron-beam devices including electron microscopes and tv tubes. His tendencies soon helped him develop holography, which would later grow on to become an outstanding phenomenom.
By definition, holography occurs when the light emitted from an object is later reconstructed so that it appears as if the object is separated from the light, generating a three dimensional perception. Its applications earned it a 1971 Nobel Prize in physics.
Today, which is inventor Dennis Gabor’s 110th birthday, holography has a number of uses, primarily dealing with data storage, art, security, and general hobbyist use. Discovered in 1947, it is amazing how the applications of holography have evolved over time. Today’s Google logo is a prime example of a three-dimensional image.
Google has changed its logo to a holographic Google bar in honor of Dennis Gabor’s birthday and accomplishments. Aside from his Nobel Prize accomplishment, Dennis Gabor will be remembered for his innovative mindset.
