Ex-Wrestling CEO Wins GOP Senate
From being the CEO of former World Wrestling Entertainment, Linda McMahon is now the GOP Senate nominee in Connecticut. She won over Republican opponents Peter Schiff and Rob Simmons.
New Jersey Democrat Robert Menendez and also the chair of Democrat Senate Campaign Committee was the first one who said that McMahon’s Wrestling association will greatly affect the possible fall of her campaign against Democrat Richard Blumenthal. Menendez also added that during McMahon’s tutelage, the drug abuse became rampant and violence became influential to kids, yet she was able to manage it and earn millions.
In her victory party which marked her second victory as a new legislator, she focused her speech on the economy. She said that the US is in need of change. It is struggling to recover while some like Washington would continuously spends money recklessly, the tax is increasing due to massive debt. She also talked about how the state would deprive small businesses and kill jobs.
McMahon won over Simmons who is a veteran of Vietnam War, CIA and Congress at a GOP convention last May. She also beat out the financier Schiff, however, the two are now gathering signatures which will qualify them for the primary ballot. Simmons was endorsed by several newspapers in his campaign like the Hartford Courant.
On the other hand, while Simmons would present his impressive resume on newspapers, McMahon used her money in her bank account. She aloted about $22 Million in her campaign.
McMahon and Blumenthal will be raacing for the seat which Chris Dodd will vacate. Dodd is a Democat who eralier announced his resignation at the end of 2010 which also marked his 30th year in the Senate.
Blumenthal is CT’s attorney general who is now trying to come back from his fall when he made his revelations that overstated his record in the military.
Voters of CT will have to choose nominees for governor.
Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy will be vying for the position against Former US Ambassador to Ireland, Tom Foley. He bested Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele in the GOP Primary.
