Day Of Mourning Observed By China
China was left devastated after a series of floods and landslides killed more than 1,500 people. A national Sunday was observed as a mourning day for the victims of floods in China. These were the victims of landslide which occurred last weekend in a remote part of northwestern China. A torrent mud slide swept throughout the town and more than 100 people were killed.
Throughout the country, flags flew at mast and public entertainment were either suspended or stopped of the day. All the main websites of the country had removed their colorful front pages to observe this day. The ceremony began with thousands of people gathering at one place and everyone was shouting “Come on Chin” in their national language.
Zhouqu in northwest province of Gansu was completely destroyed due to heavy rains and mud slides. Due to which death toll increased and 500 people are still missing. Communist Party spokesman said, this huge public expression of grief is sign of determination of the country to get over the disaster.
