Clinton says Google’s Decision on China is Completely Corporate
On being questioned whether the state would interfere in the dispute between Google Inc. and China, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the choice whether to pull out of China is totally a judgment that the company can make and not the business of the US to interfere in it.
Clinton who is presently in Moscow told in an interview, “This is really between Google and China.” She said that the government is not going to tell them what they should do. Google had formally announced in January that it may stop censoring the search results which is mandatory according to Chinese Law because of repeated fatal attacks by cyber criminals from within China. Though Google is in talks with China, if nothing substantial comes out in favor of this world’s largest search engine it may help its rival Baidu Inc. to grasp the opportunity to expand its internet market in the country.
The company had accused cyber attacks on their intellectual property by hacker within the country and also reported of possible attack was to hack the Gmail accounts of many Chinese rebellions. According to a Chinese daily if nothing goes right in favor of the company and the nation, they may pull out of China on April 10. a Shanghai based newspaper reported that Google may announce its withdrawal on March 22nd. However the company has not yet confirmed any such dates for pull out from the country.
