Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert held a press conference and stated that coach Mike Brown has not been fired. Gilbert said “That’s not true” on the Sports Illustrated report which stated that Brown was fired. “We are right now going through the evaluation process. We’re talking to coach Brown, talking to Danny Ferry, getting all information,” Gilbert added. He stopped short of definitively saying Brown remains as coach as he stated, “We’re taking a long, deep, hard look at every key position of this franchise, from top to bottom. We will be evaluating everything.” He also stressed that the Cavs need a new view of how to approach the playoffs stating, “The regular season record and having the best regular season record two years in a row. Sure it’s important; it doesn’t guarantee success in any way. I’m saying the playoffs are very, very different. We’re going to find out what the difference is, and try to build our team going forward.”

The Cavaliers were badly outplayed by the Celtics, who won the last two games played in Cleveland by a combined fifty points. The loss had opened up the possibility of a major shakeup as LeBron James, the two time Most Valuable Player, prepares for free agency. James is eligible to put out his contract this summer where a free agent and set off a scramble for his services from New York to Miami to Los Angeles, and back in Cleveland.
