Apple: Around The World In 60 Days-2 Million iPad Sold
Apple recorded a massive sale record in just 60 days of the launch. The company revealed reports that it has sold over two million iPads since its launch. Just a few days back, Apple had announced 1 Million unit sale of the much hyped gadget since its launch on April 3, but they had no clue that the product would record a massive hit of another million so soon. Just last friday, Apple had announced the launch of the iPad for the European as well as the Asian market. Apple’s product launch have always witnessed great number of queues, the same is what happened at a flagship store in London. Thousands of fans were queued outside the store to grab the first copy of the gadget. The stores cheered and clapped on each sale of the unit, with fans already seen excited raising their gadget to record the purchase.
In UK, only a limited number of stores were filled with stock to cater the industry. Other participating outlets which are authorized sale of the gadgets would receive the gadget in 10 weeks or so. Analysts had predicted much smaller figures when the gadget made its debut on April 3 in the U.S. But things seem to be flying as figures rise each day.
After the announcement of 2 million units sold, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs told:
“Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.”
The iPad is a tablet computer which allows users to read, play, listen, handle email and documents including photos and music with the feature of downloading thousands of apps from the App store.
International shipments to countries like, Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are suffering from shortages due to delay in shipments as Apple had to catch up with the rising demand in the U.S. market.
